What is a stateroom?
A stateroom, also called a cabin, is what you call a hotel room when the hotel room is on a ship. On all modern cruise ships, your stateroom will be private and safe--you can lock the door to your own stateroom. It will have beds for at least two people, closets and dresser drawers, a private bathroom with a separate shower, a closed-channel color TV with remote control, and a telephone. It will be carpeted, the beds will be made, and the stateroom service will be better than in most hotels. When you go out to breakfast, your stateroom steward will clean your room and your bathroom, make your beds, give you clean towels and washcloths, and put ice in your ice-bucket. Then when you go out to dinner, your stateroom steward will again clean your room and your bathroom, give you clean towels and washcloths, turn down your beds, put a chocolate-mint candy on your pillow, and put ice in your ice-bucket. I guarantee you will be totally spoiled.
