What cruise line should I chose?

Think of the cruise lines as hotel chains, and the individual ships as individual hotels. Perhaps you have a favorite hotel chain, but you will notice that although there is quite a difference between the hotels in the chain--some being larger, or newer, or just plain better, still all the hotels in the chain have similar characteristics. So it is with the cruise lines and their ships. Carnival Cruise Lines' ships are like Las Vegas Hotels, lots of lights, neon, glass, plastic, metal, music, dancing, and fun. We also think of Carnival as being like Holiday Inn. It's good food, and it's good service, but it's still Holiday Inn. We rate Carnival with three stars. We compare Royal Caribbean Cruise Line to Hyatt Hotels, natural-wood paneling on the walls, earthtone colors, a little better food and service, a little more conservative than Carnival, a little older clientele. We rate Royal Caribbean with four stars. We compare Celebrity Cruises to Ritz Carlton hotels, a larger space-to-guest ratio, museum-quality artwork throughout the ship, food prepared under the supervision of world-renowned master-chef Michel Roux. Celebrity is even more conservative than Royal Caribbean, with a slightly older clientele. We rate Celebrity with five stars. Holland America is great for older, older guests, very conservative, very comfortable, wonderful ballroom dancing music, bounteous fresh flowers throughout the ship, teak promenade deck all the way around, movie theatre on every ship. We rate Holland America with five stars. Keep in mind that the difference between ships can be considerable. We rate Royal Caribbean's VOYAGER OF THE SEAS higher than several of Celebrity's ships. See our ship ratings by clicking here. Sometimes people ask, "Which cruise line is better?" Well, which is better, an apple or an orange? One isn't better than another, they're just different. Read the brochures to help get an idea of which cruise line you would like. Then just pick one, and "go for it!"
